well you bring u some very interesting points i know that it is not the in
thing to say on this continent or this time in human history ... but if we
as human beings do not help our selves through scientific investigation in
gene reserch and organ replacement who will?/? god?? for what reason is
your god<if it does exist> plague the earth with disease and pestulance such
as aids?? on one hand there is the victims who want a cure then we have
others who dont think it is alll that much of a hurry ...which one are you
every drug in excistance was first tested on animals so that thousands <
perhaps millions>of humans may live i will probably get some flack for my
next bit .. but i believe adolph hitler had some good ideas not all of em ..
but some of them were he was the first govt. in history to try gene
recerch the invention of the free way and believe it or not many of todays
discoveries are begun under his orders

well i am enjoying all this "god " talk .. i am too an athiest ..i cannot
understand any religion that believes in being greater or better than any
body else .. the pope himself was origianilly the commander in charge of
converting the " heathens " by force if need be and i have no faith in a
bible iether .. i do believe that there was a book from a group of appostles
if you want to call them that .. but as anyone knows if you tell a story
to 3 different people you will get 3 different versions back ... and after
it has gone through o hhh say 5 generations < approx 500 years> it is
already pretty well changed .... then to add to this being translated to any
number of languages each with there own twist on words and meanings ets..
it is a wonder the thing is even ledgible any more and then there is all the
other religions . buhdism<SP> hinduism mormonisn menoniteisnetc etc etc
all proclaiming that THEY are the true word of god well i say NUTS to em
all all i believe in no afterlife .. no spirit when a cow gets sloughtered
do people mourn its passing???? no .. becouse it has no real impact in our
lives axcept as food we as humans use religion and words like afterlife i
believe becouse we cannot stand being mortal that there HAS to be something
after we die why ??? does there always have to be more when we die we
are no more use than that cow getting sloughtered

It's a lot more sophisticated than that, and the fundamental basis of their
ideas is actually somewhat sound. The theory goes that dilithium crystals
look like ordinary quartz at a first analysis, but they extend their
crystalline structure into the fourth dimension (time). These crystals
radiate electromagnetic energy back when excited by what the writers call
sub-space, and conversly radiate sub-space energy back when excited by EM
radiation. They channel this FTL, time altering energy and the ship gets
surrounded by a field of time-altering energy, essentially allowing the ship
to circumvent normal relativistic effects.

See it's all very simple. ;^)

Now, I'm not quite sure what you mean by that..but what i meant is that
when I see a heading, "new scientific theories," religion doesn't enter my
mind. I was expecting to see conversations about theories about perhaps
forms of propulsion, etc. Not talk about whether or not god exists.

Well... I already answered that question as best as I understand it.
Basically you are warping space. If you measure a piece of paper laying flat
on a table from corner to corner, you may come up with say 15cm. If you
'warp' it in half, and you measure the distance, you will get a fraction of a
mm... basically that is what they are doing to space. <Thats the theory in a
nutshell, as I understand it.> The very term is pretty self-explanitory...

The old Star Trek had one good thing going for it that the 'next-generation'
didn't... they were far more creative (They had to be... they were the first,
and had a small budget...) I think that the writers were better, the dialogue
was certainly better, and it showed an ideal that appeals to all people who
love the idea of humanity coming to terms with itself. The Next Generation
was about a bunch of stiff people in a society which I would fear. I think
that it wasn't all that bad, but it could have been a lot better.
