-=> August Abolins wrote to Sean Dennis <=- AA> Is that what everyone gets after cataract surgery? No, it depends on the person. I asked Google and it spat out this: "Permanent dry eyes after cataract surgery are uncommon, but temporary dry eye is very common, affecting up to 37-42% of patients, with symptoms usually peaking in the first week and gradually improving over 1-3 months as corneal nerves heal; however, a significant minority (around 34%) may experience persistent dry eye-like symptoms, especially if they had pre-existing dry eye or risk factors like older age or female gender." I do spend a lot of time at the comoputer and that causes issues as well. I use Soothe (a pure glycerin eye drop) and Systane (a propolyne [sp] glycol-based eye drop) to help with the dry eyes. I am still very light sensitive, but I am told that might take 6-8 months to get over as I had cataracts for decades and my cornea takes its time to adjust. I also have moderate diabetic retinopathy and that also may be causing secondary issues. I need to contact my retina specialist and ask if he still wants me to come in to continue to get shots in my eyes. With the insulin pump, I'm hoping I can get things under control to live somewhat of a normal life again. -- Sean ...
