Sean, di> There is a local VR camera about 10 miles west of me in di> Jonesborough at the Chuckey Depot (museum). di> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geu9bc_M-kA This is the di> westbound camera; the eastbound camera is members only. When I di> get a car again, I'm going to make a big sign saying hi to VR di> fans and wave it around at the westbound camera. LOL I've watched video from there at times, noting a grade crossing signal and a caboose. Speaking of VR, a driver in Quincy, Illinois was charged with DUI, after driving onto railroad tracks. They tried to get the vehicle off of there, but to no avail. The nearby grade crossing signals activated for the approaching BNSF freight train, and the train was sounding its horn. The individuals were screaming to the driver to "get out of the car". The train, though in emergency stop, hit the car, and pushed it down the tracks, before coming to a halt. The wreck was right next to the Quincy, Illinois Amtrak station. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGYIfZ97DUo There was another VR camera in Glendale, Ohio, where it's apparently "a QZ" (quiet zone). Next the crossing was a police car, watching for speeders. Sure enough, here comes a driver, on the wrong side of the road, speeding so fast that he went airborne upon crossing the tracks. The officers turned on the police car emergency lights and siren to go after the offender...who ended up losing control of his car, and smashing into a light pole. The "Grab Bag" editor added a sarcastic touch with the "Dixie" horn from "The Dukes Of Hazzard", as the car went airborne. One commenter said "I give a 7.9 for the launch". <G> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTs-mwHYBTQ On the LaPlata, Missouri railcam, there are folks who wait for the arrival of Amtrak' Southwest Chief. As the train approaches, the commenters say "All Rise For The Chief", then give it a "score" (as with the Olympics) on the presentation and the station stop. Bob and Amy Cox are caretakers of the station (it's not staffed by Amtrak employees), and they run a nearby railroad related hotel. Daryl ... Try to beat a train to a railroad crossing, and you'll be DEAD WRONG!! === MultiMail/Win v0.52 --- SBBSecho 3.32-Win32 * Origin: The Thunderbolt BBS - Little Rock, Arkansas (618:250/33) |
