Microsoft releases Windows 3.1, priced around $149, selling three million
copies in its first two months.The release improved stability and usability
over earlier versions and brought built-in multimedia support, including
sound cards, MIDI, and CD audio capabilities. It also expanded support for
Super VGA graphics (such as 800x600 resolution), depending on hardware. For
many of us, this was the first version of Windows we actually used, as
