Recent times have seen a lot of effort put into the implementation of the kexec
handover and live update orchestrator
features in the Linux kernel.  But that work is not yet complete.  At the
2026 Linux Storage,
Filesystem, Memory Management, and BPF Summit, Pratyush Yadav led a
memory-management-track session on adding the ability to preserve
hugetlbfs-provided
memory during the live-update process.
