That's because when they were young, they had little and wanted free stuff.

As they got older, they realized that there was no free stuff and what they
thought was "free" when they were young was actually stolen from others.

And as they are older, they have stuff and don't want the gov't to take it to
give to others.

A centra point of Communism is the concept of "Central Planning".  Central
Planning will never work and has been proven to be unable to work.  Central
Planning will cause the collapse of Communism even if everyone was honest.
