You hit that right on the head.  The least charitable societies are Communist
ones.  I always thought that it was because they are able to get so little that
they want to hold on hard to what they have.

I've spent decades working with unions (Teacher's unions, UAW, etc.)  Their main
purpose, in my experience, is to protect the incompetent and lazy.
