There are some groups here in the USA that supposedly use social media like
discord or a couple of others that are sketchy.  They threaten younger kids
with exposure of personal information if they don't join and do their
bidding.  I wonder if it is something like that.

Either way you are right, sounds like gangs/mafia have gone high tech.
