The main thing about starting young is that, as you get a little older and have higher living and family costs, you may not be able to continue putting money away.. But if you leave the early investments there making money, it grows and adds more money into those funds all the time without you doing anything. The hard part is avoiding the temptation to spend it on something in later years. I was a bit of a fanatic about that. I often would borrow money and pay interest on it rather than touch the invested funds. I did everything I could to keep the interest rate on my Line of Credit low so I was usually making a higher rate on my investments than I was paying on the money I borrowed so there was still a little profit in that situation. i.e.. Right now if I needed money I could borrow it on my LOC at about 6.5% but my investments this past year have mostly payed on average something over 12%.. --- * SLMR Rob * 'Ward..
